CALGARY, AB – Village Brewery has announced the release of a special limited edition beer to mark the brewing of its 1000th batch.
Village Grandfather is a 7.2% abv and 75 IBU West Coast style IPA with the following notes:
Filtered clear, this beer exhibits an orange golden hue. Canadian 2 row malted barley with English caramel and roasted barley gives this a slightly sweet malt character strong enough to stand up to the aggressive hop bitterness in the balance. Aroma is a deep resinous hop character with a very tropical fruit forward nose. Pineapple, cantaloupe, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit notes are all in abundance, with a slight danky pine character in the background. Eighteen different hop additions of Galena, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, and Simcoe hops.
Village Grandfather was debuted yesterday (May 20th) at the brewery with a tasting event that also featured an appearance by the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre Man Van, offering on-the-spot PSA blood tests to check for prostate cancer risk.
A run of 1500 x 650 ml bottles of Village Grandfather has been produced, with each bottle featuring a commemorative patch. It will be available at the Village retail store and select liquor stores in Calgary and area while supplies last.
