VANCOUVER, BC – Three months after the departure of veteran brewmaster Vern Lambourne, Granville Island Brewing has named his successor, and has also announced a new series of limited edition beers that the new recruit will be overseeing.
Kevin Emms (pictured above) earned a Masters in the Brewing and Distilling program at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, and has joined Granville Island after stints at Deep Cove and Coal Harbour.
For his first new project at the brewery, Emms will be launching Growl at the Moon, a series of growler-only beers that will be released on the evening of the full moon each month.
The first beer in the series is Attack of the Keller Crabs, a Kellerbier that will be available on Tuesday June 2nd.
The release will be marked with three nights of classic B-movies at the brewery taproom – Attack of the Giant Leeches (June 2nd), Creature from the Haunted Sea (June 3rd), and Attack of the Crab Monsters (June 4th) – with no cover charge, free popcorn, and food and beer available for purchase.
