OTTAWA, ON – Brewery trade organization Beer Canada has announced the release of the 2015 edition of its Annual Statistical Bulletin, a document that aims to “reflect, update and share new information involving the beer industry in Canada.”
Some highlights of this year’s bulletin include the following:
- “In 2014 Canadians enjoyed over 22 million hectolitres (hL) of beer. Canadian beer accounts for 84% of this figure.”
- “The number of licensed breweries in Canada has risen almost 70% over the past five years to 520 operating in 2014. Over half of these breweries make their products in Ontario and Québec.”
- “Increasing can sales show the container rose to a 51.1% share of the domestic packaged beer market in 2014. Draught sales grew slightly by 0.20% and bottle sales fell 3.8%.”
