IQUALUIT, NUNunatsiaq Online reports that a group of investors met with Iqaluit city council earlier this week to present a plan to open the city’s – and territory’s – first brewery.

Nunavut Brewing Company has five partners on board, with an aim to raise $3 million to build and establish the brewery.

The initial proposal was well-received, and a more detailed plan will be reviewed and discussed by Iqaluit city council in July. If approved by the council, the proposal will then need to go to the Nunavut Liquor Licensing Board for further consultations, meaning it will be quite some time before the brewery will be launched.
