TORONTO, ON – The organizers of Toronto Beer Week have announced details for the official beer of the 2015 edition of the event, with distribution set to take place via LCBO stores for the first time this year.

Six Boroughs Bourbon Barrel-Aged Rye Porter is a 10% abv strong porter brewed for TBW by Amsterdam Brewing. Named for the six boroughs that were amalgamated into the current City of Toronto – Etobicoke, York, North York, East York, Old Toronto and Scarborough – the beer is described as follows:

With nine months aging in Four Roses Bourbon barrels we expect hints of caramel, vanilla and spice to overlay a rich malty background. And did we say it’s warming? At 10% this is definitely a beer to toast the lengthening nights and the onset of Fall. In fact, it sounds like the perfect way to unwind after shovelling the first snowfall (if you can make your stash last that long).

Six Boroughs will be released next month in a limited run of approximately 2,200 bottles at select LCBO outlets in the Greater Toronto Area, retailing for $7.95 per 500 ml bottle. See the full release announcement for more details.

Toronto Beer Week 2015 will be taking place at venues throughout the city on September 18th to 26th. For more information, see the TBW website.
