ASHTON, ON – CBC News reports that Ashton Brewing, the small brewery in the Old Mill at Ashton pub near Ottawa, has procured and relocated a disused barn in order to expand production.
Originally located approximately 80 km away in Wakefield, Quebec, the nearly 90-year-old barn was in a poor state of repair, and was blown over by a strong wind. The owner stacked and kept the salvageable wood, which has now been moved and will soon be reassembled next to the pub as a 6000-square-foot expansion.
According to the report, the cost of purchasing and relocating the barn was in the “thousands of dollars” range, but the brewery considers it a worthwhile investment to reach its goal of expanding sales of its beers into retail chains such as the LCBO.
