TORONTO, ON – Beer importer Fine Beers Agency has announced that it will be bringing beer from Dutch brewery Jopen Bier into Ontario for the first time.
Named after the 112-litre barrels that were once used for transporting beer, Jopen was founded in 1994 to resurrect the historic beer styles of Haarlem, the Dutch city that was once one of the world capitals of beer brewing.
The first beer to come to Ontario from the brewery is Jopen Hoppenbier, a 6.8% abv golden ale that is described as follows:
Hoppenbier (translated as ‘hopped beer’) is the only triple-grain double-hopped beer in the world. A crisp beer with a malty foretaste and a lingering, bitter finish, this golden beer is a precise reproduction of a Haarlem beer and is brewed according to the brewer’s statue (recipe regulated by the council) of 1501.
Jopen Hoppenbier will be available on draught at select bars and restaurants in Ontario.
