HALIFAX, NS – Oland Brewery – a division of Labatt/AB-InBev – has announced that the historic Alexander Keith’s Brewery in downtown Halifax is currently undergoing a $1.5 million upgrade and will soon be going back into service as a small batch production brewery.
As reported by the Chronicle Herald, the 195-year-old facility has not been operating as a brewery for a number of years, although tours and events have still been taking place.
The newly refurbished brewery will have an initial capacity of 2,000 hectolitres, and will focus on a producing craft-oriented beers that will be available in growlers, 650 ml bottles, and six-packs, with retail sales on-site and at select NSLC locations.
Brewing is expected to start in April, and the final decisions on the styles and brands to be brewed there will be made once a brewmaster is hired for the facility.
