TORONTO, ON – Beer writer Ben Johnson reports via Ben’s Beer Blog that the long-rumoured Toronto brewpub from former Dieu du Ciel! Brewmaster Luc “Bim” Lafontaine finally has a location confirmed.
In partnership with his brother and the founders of Quebec’s Microbrasserie Le Trou du Diable, Bim has taken possession of a 6000-square-foot location at 242 Coxwell Avenue near Gerrard in the city’s east end, and will soon be starting construction.
Approximately half of the space will be used to house a 20 hectolitre brewing system, while the remainder will feature a 140-seat brewpub that Bim says will include “a small unpretentious kitchen and beer-to-go retail store.”
While an exact date is not known, Bim tells Johnson that he hopes that the still-to-be-named brewery and pub will be open before the end of 2016.
