NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON – Niagara This Week reports that a long-planned brewery in Niagara-On-The-Lake will be opening its doors to the public tomorrow (Friday January 22nd), just in time for this weekend’s tourist-heavy Icewine Festival.
The Exchange Brewery has been in the works for almost 3 years, with founder Robin Ridesic telling the paper that numerous delays due to zoning variances and construction has it opening later than hoped.
With a name that plays off of the fact that the building where the brewery is located used to be a telephone exchange, The Exchange will be launching with five core beers that also have phone-inspired names – #2 Amber, #3 Porter, #7 IPA, * Session Saison, and # Witbier – as well as a limited edition White IPA. The brewery plans to produce up to 30 different beers this year, including a number of sour and barrel-aged brands.
The Exchange Brewery will open at 11:00 AM tomorrow, with beer available for on-site sampling and to take away in 750 ml bottles and growlers. For more details, see the full Niagara This Week article, and the Exchange Brewery Facebook page.
