TORONTO, ON – Folly Brewpub has announced the release date and details for a beer that was brewed on March 8th in honour of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day.
The Bechdel Brett – named in honour of American cartoonist and feminist activist Alison Bechdel – is a 6.2% abv wild ale brewed with a Brettanomyces Claussenii yeast strain and hopped with Calypso and Cascade hops.
The beer was brewed by a group of women – led by Folly brewer Christina Coady (pictured) – that included “novices, homebrewers, brewing students, and more.”
The Bechdel Brett will be launched at Folly on Saturday April 16th at 1:00 PM, and it will remain on draught while supplies last, with proceeds from the launch to be donated to the Working Women Community Centre.
A portion of the beer has also been bottled and will be available in Folly’s bottle shop, which is expected to open soon.
