Calgary Council Loosens Zoning Rules for Craft Breweries

CALGARY, ABCBC News reports that Calgary council has approved a number of changes that will cut red tape for craft breweries in the city.

In a session yesterday, councillors voted to classify the “manufacture of alcoholic beverages” as being distinct from other forms of manufacturing, meaning that new breweries – as well as distilleries and wine makers – will be able to open in areas of the city that were previously off-limits.

Other changes will make it easier for small breweries to open on-site retail stores, tasting rooms, and full service pubs.
