HALIFAX, NS – Nova Scotia’s government-owned liquor distribution and retail agency the NSLC has announced its financial results for the 2015-16 fiscal year, and locally brewed craft beer has shown impressive sales growth for the retailer.
Sales of Nova Scotia craft beer hit $7.6 million for the year, an increase of 25.5% over 2014-15. Craft beer now accounts for 4% of all beer sales in the province, and is the only segment of the beer category to see notable growth for the year.
Other Nova Scotia alcohol producers also saw increases, with local wine sales up 8.7%, ready-to-drink products (including cider) increasing 44.4%, and locally distilled spirits jumping a remarkable 177.3%.
