GRAVENHURST, ON – Sawdust City Brewing has announced details of an upcoming special edition version of one of a previously released seasonal brand.
Barrel-Aged Limberlost Farmhouse Ale is a 6.5% ale described as follows:
On May 1, 2015 our intrepid brewers, along with some friends and the good folks of The Escarpment Yeast Labs, headed into the wilds of the Limberlost Forest in search of yeast. After a day of searching and a night of revelry, they returned with a variety of samples. A year later, after much screening, testing and brewing, the boys at Escarpment finally isolated a viable yeast strain, which we called “The Limberlost”. That beer was originally released on May 1st, 2016, but half the batch went into Ontario red wine barrels. After resting for 7 months, the beer was finally aged on 550lbs of Ontario Red Currants from the Brooks Farms in Ajax, ON. This Farmhouse style, is now a brilliant blush with hints of citrus, big fruity esters and a lot of funk.
Barrel-Aged Limberlost will make a preview appearance at the Sawdust City Oktoberfest event on September 30th and October 1st, followed by an official release in a limited run of 750 ml bottles available at the Sawdust City retail store starting October 6th.
