ST. THOMAS, ON – Railway City Brewing has announced the winning beer from Platform 16, the brewery’s 5th annual homebrewing competition, will be commercially released this week.
Devil’s Dark Lager is a 5.8% abv and 22 IBU Schwarzbier created by Ryan Ward of London, with the following tasting notes:
This medium-to-full bodied brew contains seven premium malts. The black brew enters the glass and leaves a tawny one-finger head. Aromas include notes of dark fruits and sweet brown sugar. Chocolate and roasted marshmallow hit the front of the palate, slowly fading to reveal a subtle pecan and a roasted coffee-like ending for a smooth finish.
“Devil’s Dark Lager got its name as the original recipe’s ABV was approximately 6%, I was bottling it on the 6th, and giving samples to six people,” says Platform 16 winner Ryan Ward. “It’s a devilishly good brew for those who enjoy a dark craft beer.”
Devil’s Dark Lager will be officially released on Thursday September 22nd with a launch party at the brewery starting at 7:00 PM. It will be available in 650 ml bottles at the Railway City retail store while supplies last.
