VICTORIA, BC – Spinnakers Brewpub was hit by a serious fire earlier today, although according to social media updates, no staff members or patrons were injured.
CTV Vancouver Island reported that the fire broke out around 1:30 PM local time, and it appeared to have started in a second floor fireplace.
Victoria Fire Battalion Chief Bob Jones told CTV that much of the roof and second floor were destroyed by the fire, and that the remaining building has serious smoke and water damage, although the full extent and cost of the damage has yet to be established.
In a series of posts on Twitter, Spinnakers praised the firefighters who responded to the incident, called on customers to buy Spinnakers beer at local liquor stores, and thanked patrons and followers for their support.
