NELSON, BCThe Nelson Daily reports that Nelson Brewing has teamed up with another local business to create a special beer to celebrate both the holiday season and the 25th anniversary of the brewery.

Prince of Darkness Organic Coffee Stout was brewed in collaboration with Oso Negro, a coffee company that roasts its beans in another unit on the building where Nelson Brewing is located.

“We all drink Prince of Darkness coffee in the morning every day, we all enjoy it, and John (Meyer of Oso Negro) drinks our beer,” says Nelson’s Marketing and Sales Manager Al McLeod in the article. “People like to call (our companies) the legendary liquid-makers of Nelson and our businesses are cornerstones in the community. At the end of the day I’m really proud of working with someone like John.”

McLeod also tells the paper that a portion of the proceeds from the beer – estimated to be $2000 – will be donated to local food banks.

Prince of Darkness Organic Coffee Stout is being released today (December 13th) in a batch of 4000 litres that will be available while supplies last in 650 bottles at Nelson Brewing and select liquor retailers, and on tap at several bars and pubs, all within a 160 km radius of Nelson.
