TORONTO, ON – Henderson Brewing has announced details of the latest release in its Ides Series of monthly limited edition beers, which this month also serves as the first in a new annual series of homebrewer collaborations.
The Henderson Cup is a homebrewing competition announced by the brewery last year, with the winner receiving $1000 and the chance to brew a commercial beer with the Henderson team.
The winner of the inaugural Henderson Cup is Ed Hitchcock, an award-winning homebrewer who recently returned to brewing after a nearly 20-year break. His entry in the competition was a raspberry lambic-style ale that he brewed during his original run of homebrewing, and which was aged for 22 years.
Given the impracticality of reproducing his entry, Hitchcock and the Henderson brewers instead created a Raspberry Black IPA which “brings to life the spirit of his winning Lambic in a more reasonable time.”
Ides of February: The Henderson Cup is available now in a limited run of 650 ml bottles exclusively in the Henderson retail store. It will also be on tap for glasses and growler fills at Henderson for the next four weeks, and at select licensees in Toronto while supplies last.
