SASKATOON, SK – Great Western Brewing has announced the arrival of Amanda Butt as the company’s new Brewmaster & Innovation Ambassador.
A native of Newfoundland, Butt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry, and a Master of Science degree in brewing and distilling. She comes to Great Western from Boston Beer Company, where she worked as Brewing Manager and head of the research and development brewing operations. Previous to that, she worked in various roles at Labatt Breweries.
“I’m excited to be returning to Canada to join the award-winning team at Great Western,” said Butt in a statement. “My focus throughout my career has been on brewing creativity, innovation and continuous improvement. Brewing is my passion and I plan to pour that passion into continuing Great Western’s tradition of excellence.”
Butt is replacing brewmaster Vivian Jones, who is retiring after a 50-year career in the brewing industry, with his last decade spent at Great Western.
