VICTORIA, BC – Phillips Brewing has announced details of an encore release in its Sour Note series of sour beers.
Returning for a second appearance is Thorny Horn Sour Raspberry Brown Ale, the beer that kicked off the series back in 2015. The 6.8% abv ale is described as follows:
This tasty sour is born as a medium bodied brown ale and fermented with a saison yeast. Following this, it is infused with raspberries and augmented with a lively Lactobacillus bacteria, the magical secret to sour. Like all of our special sour note releases, this brew features our own ‘lacto’ strain that was cultured in-house from our spent grain. A tangy berry nose leads to a rich, slightly sharp raspberry tartness through the body that finishes puckeringly dry.
Thorny Horn will be on sale for a limited time at select private liquor stores in BC. It will also be available to sample on draught during a launch event at the Phillips brewery this Thursday March 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
