HALIFAX, NS – In recognition of Canada’s 150th birthday, Propeller Brewing is calling on breweries and homebrewers across the country to brew a version of “the beer that unites us all.”
The Great Canadian Lager Challenge has been launched with the following mandate:
Canadians drink more lager than any other kind of alcohol. From ball parks to brew pubs – sometimes you just want a nice “beer-flavoured-beer”. It’s fizzy. It’s yellow. It’s easy drinking. For Canada 150, we want to challenge every brewery (and homebrewer!) in the country to make YOUR best “beer-flavoured-beer” and release it on July 1, 2017. The more “Canadian” you can make it, the better. Let’s unite around the beer that Canadians drink most – and collectively raise a glass to “Canada”.
Brewers who take up the challenge are also invited to submit their lager to be tasted and judged during Propeller’s 20th anniversary celebrations on July 14th-15th, with awards set to be given in the categories of “Most Patriotic Canadian Beer” and “Best use of local ingredients, icons and/or story”.
