SHELBURNE, NS – Boxing Rock Brewing has announced the upcoming release of a beer that will support a unique educational program at a local national park.
Dark as Keji Black IPA is being release to raise awareness and funds for the dark sky programming at Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site.
Located in southwestern Nova Scotia, far away from urban light pollution, the park has been designated at Dark Sky Preserve by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and features Dark Sky Education programs presented by the Friends of Keji Cooperating Association.
“Dark as Keji is a black IPA, so the colour is dark like the night sky, but the taste is bright like the stars,” says Boxing Rock co-owner Emily Tipton, who designed the recipe for the beer. “It’s a great beer to enjoy in the dark, it comes to life in your mouth with lots of roasty body and a terrific hoppy finish.”
Dark as Keji will be launched at Kejimkujik on the evening of Saturday May 20th, with a tasting event and dark sky program. It will be available in six packs at the brewery, NSLC locations, and private beer stores in Nova Scotia, with 50 cents from each pack sold to be donated to Friends of Keji.
