ST. THOMAS, ON – Railway City Brewing has announced details of the next release in its Barrel Reserve series of limited edition barrel-aged beers.
Rose Hip Hibiscus Lager is a 5.6% abv and 25 IBU lager infused with fresh rose hip and hibiscus tea, and aged in a first-time use Merlot barrel from Tawse Winery. It’s further described as follows:
The Rose Hip Hibiscus Lager appears rustic copper with a golden halo. Immediate notes of grape skin radiate from the dense off-white head before evolving into sweet candy, comparable to Swedish Berries. The beer enters the palate with a gentle acidity that quickly melds into a sweet berry medley. The fluffy, medium mouthfeel with flavours of strawberry shortcake provide a candy-like sweetness to the brew. This sweetness then falls away to reveal floral notes and a slight tannic finish from the oak barrel.
Rose Hip Hibiscus Lager will be released tomorrow (Saturday June 17th) at 11:00 AM in the Railway City retail store in downtown St. Thomas. The limited run of 650 ml bottles will be selling for $8.95 each, with a purchase limit of 2 bottles per person.
