HINTON, AB – A new brewery situated close one of Canada’s largest and most picturesque parks has announced that it will be opening for business today (July 10th).
Folding Mountain Brewing is located 10 minutes west of Hinton, Alberta, near the main gates to the 11,000 square kilometre Jasper National Park.
Founded by long-time friends and Hinton natives Aric Johnson and Jason Griffiths, who have been joined by brewmaster Dave Mozel, Folding Mountain aims to offer “an atmosphere that allows you to enjoy a quality craft beer with unparalleled views of the Rocky Mountains.”
While details of the beers to be available at opening haven’t been announced, a preview profile at On Beer last autumn indicated that the line-up is expected to include “an IPA, a darker ale, a blonde ale and a couple more,” plus additional seasonals and one-offs. Beer will initially be available exclusively on site, but distribution to other establishments and liquor stores in Alberta is planned to follow soon.
The Folding Mountain facility also features a full kitchen, with the food program being overseen by Marcel Randall, a Mexican-born chef with expertise in Mexican, Spanish, and Italian cuisines, as well as fusion and comfort food.
Folding Mountain Brewing will be open today from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. For more details, see the brewery’s Facebook page and website.
