CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Upstreet Craft Brewing has announced details of a new limited edition beer that will be released tomorrow (August 3rd) in honour of International IPA Day.
Island Hopspitality 2017 – which retains the name but not the recipe of last year’s release – is a 4.5% abv ale that is described as follows:
We’ve concocted a hazy, sour, and hoppy delight that technically might classify as a Kettle Soured New England Session IPA. Not your traditional IPA, but that’s not really how we roll. Using a light pilsner-base malt in combination with equal parts wheat, oats, and light crystal, lends some nice body and residual sweetness to an otherwise thin beer. This was soured in the kettle using naturally-occurring lactobacillus from grain in a 2-step 72-hr process. For the “IPA” part (aka: bring on the hops), we generously hopped using our new double-whirlpool and double-dry hopping techniques, derived for Go Devil, with Centennial, Azacca and Sorachi Ace.
Island Hopspitality 2017 will be released at 12:00 noon tomorrow at the brewery. For more details, see the Facebook event listing.
