TORONTO, ON – The LCBO – Ontario’s government-owned liquor distribution and retail agency – has announced its financial results for the 2016-17 fiscal year, and craft beer and cider have once again shown some of the largest sales growth of all product segments at the retailer.
Sales of Ontario craft beer hit $88.5 million for the year, an increase of more than 27.6% over 2015-16, while Ontario craft cider sales jumped 39% to $7.1 million. Both were well ahead of the 9.9% increase seen for the full beer and cider segment, which includes all domestic and imported products.
Also worthy of note is the large increase in sales of products from Ontario small distillers, where were up 62% to $6.3 million, versus a 5.1% increase for the full spirits segment.
