BURLINGTON, ON – Nickel Brook Brewing has announced that brewing industry veteran Ian MacDonald has been named President of the company effective immediately, with co-founder and previous President John Romano shifting to the position of CEO.
As noted in the press release, MacDonald has “began his career at Labatt Breweries of Canada and later went on to hold executive leadership roles at Lakeport Brewing Corporation, the relaunched Steelback Brewery, Cott Beverages and most recently as CEO of Carib Brewery in Trinidad and Tobago.”
Romano adds that MacDonald “has always been a friend and supporter of Nickel Brook,” and that he “brings a strong understanding of what it takes to compete in an increasingly-competitive market, and how to grow our brand while staying true to our roots.”
The appointment comes as Nickel Brook is laying down plans for a 30,000-square-foot brewery, restaurant, and culinary tourist destination in Niagara Region that is expected to cost between $12 and $16 million.
