VANCOUVER, BC – The Growler reports that one of Vancouver’s largest brewpubs is shutting down at the end of the month, but the restaurant and brewing tanks won’t remain empty for long.
Steel Toad Brewpub & Dining Hall has announced that it will be closing on January 31st, at which point local gastropub chain Tap & Barrel will be taking over and renovating the space for a spring relaunch.
Set to be known as T&B Brewing Co., the new venture is described as follows:
The 12-hectolitre brewhouse will become Tap & Barrel’s own “Brew Lab”, with a focus on beers brewed in collaboration with other B.C. breweries, called “collabobeers.” Meanwhile, the restaurant will be transformed into an open format beer hall.
Award-winning brewer Kerry Dyson, formerly of North Vancouver’s Bridge Brewing, has been tapped to take over beer-making duties.
