NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON – The Exchange Brewery has announced beer releases and other events that will be taking place this coming weekend (February 8th to 11th) to mark its 2nd anniversary.
Eight beers are set to be released throughout the celebration, including the following:
Thursday February 8th
Cerise (7.7% abv, 8 IBU) – “A strong Belgian Golden ale aged in wine barrels, with a tertiary fermentation with 300 pounds of sour cherries. Pink and tart. Fruity, funky, delicious.” On tap only.
Peach Pi (6.4% abv, 21 IBU) – “This Blonde ale began with a short lactic fermentation in the kettle before its journey to wine barrels. It was aged on a generous amount of peaches with cinnamon bark, vanilla beans and a touch of Brettonamyces.” On tap & in 750 ml bottles.
Grand Cru Vintage 2016 (7.5% abv, 29 IBU) – “Brewed with subtle spices and aged for 1 year on pressed grapes from our friends at Pearl Morissette Estate Winery. Dry and vinous with complex fruit bouquet.” On tap & in 750 ml bottles.
Brett Table Beer (5% abv, 25 IBU) – “This funky and tart farmhouse ale is a frankenstein-esque blend of worts from Session Saison brews, fermented with our house brettanomyces culture for two months.” On cask.
Friday February 9th
Winter Warmer (10% abv, 22 IBU) – “Brewed with oats, Munich malt, wheat, chocolate malts and spices (cardamom, cinnamon, peppercorns and orange peel). This heavy hitter has a medium body with mild sweetness and a light warming sensation on the finish.” On cask.
Saturday February 10th
Belgian Pale Ale with Cranberry (7.5% abv, 29 IBU) – “Aged on 2 kg of cranberries for 3 months. Flavours of toasted bread balance the tartness of the cranberries. Light body and refreshing dry finish.” On cask.
Old Ale (9% abv, 40 IBU) – “A preview to the release of our collaboration brew with Fairweather Brewing Co. A balance of lightly toasted malts and fruity esters from Windsor ale yeast blended with UK Pilgrim hops leave you wanting more of this full-bodied brew.” On cask.
Anniversary events happening at the brewery will include a Hops & Humour comedy night (February 9th), a Sour Tour & Tasting (February 10th), a performance by the Woodshed Orchestra (February 10th), and a Bend & Brew yoga and beer session (February 11th). And for every flight and glass purchased on February 9th and 10th, $1 will be donated to the Bruce Trail Conservancy.
