Fernie Brewing Announces Quartet of Beer Releases for March

FERNIE, BC – Fernie Brewing has announced details of four limited edition beers that will be released weekly through to the end of March.

The series kicked off yesterday (March 8th) with the release of Three Kings Belgian-Style Tripel (8% abv, 29 IBU):

A pale, somewhat spicy, dry, strong Trappist Ale with a pleasant rounded malt flavor and firm bitterness. Quite aromatic, with spicy, fruity, and light alcohol notes combining with the supportive clean malt character. High alcohol, yet very approachable to many a palate.

March 15th will see the return of Old Barn Saison under a new name, High Tide Saison (6% abv, 35 IBU):

A very aromatic flavourful, golden brew, with spicy, peppery and fruity notes. This is our take on the classic, refreshing and unassuming, yet delicious Belgian beer. Surprisingly light, but packs a punch of flavour to enjoy. Variety of malts, including Munich, Cara Vienna, Rye and Pilsner malts. Peppercorns, lemon juice and orange peel are also added.

The latest addition to Fernie’s rotating IPA series, Free Fall Double IPA (8% abv, 83 IBU), will follow on March 22nd:

Big, boozy and bold, this is our strongest IPA to date. High in alcohol, and heavily hopped with Simcoe, Ekuanot and Loral, showcasing citrus and tropical fruit notes. Ends with a long, lingering bitterness that shows the hop complexity and aroma.

Finally, the series will wrap up on March 29th with Single Speed Belgian-Style Blonde (4.8% abv, 19 IBU):

Using the same yeast as our new Three Kings Belgian-Style Tripel, very light malt (mostly pilsner). There are very little hops added on the brewing side, but instead dry-hopped with a little Mandarina Bavaria and Lemondrop to give it a refreshing citrusy finish – think “five alive”. The small addition of cardamom, gives a complimentary flavor that doesn’t take away from the yeast and hops.

Each beer will be launched at the brewery with a tasting event running from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on their respective release days, and will be available to purchase at the brewery in 650 ml bottles. They will also be available at select beer retailers in BC and Alberta while supplies last.
