SYLVAN LAKE, AB – The second brewery to launch this year in Sylvan Lake, a small community west of Red Deer in Central Alberta, has announced that it is now open.
Undercurrent Brewing has been founded by the husband-and-wife team of Bryan McHale and Kathryn Blair, both former lawyers who left the law trade to start the brewery.
Set up in a former gas station near the shore of the town’s namesake lake, Undercurrent features a 5-barrel brewing system, a taproom with a light meal and snack menu, and growler sales. Flagship brands include The Commoner California Common (5.2% abv), Centennial Street Wheat Ale (5% abv), Sailor’s Delight Imperial Red Rye Ale (8% abv), and Finn’s Inheritance Oatmeal Porter (4.7% abv).
Undercurrent Brewing is located at 5003 Lakeshore Drive in Sylvan Lake, and is open from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday.
