TORONTO, ON – The first issue of the Ontario edition of The Growler – a spin-off of the British Columbia publication of the same name – is set to be released later this week.
As with the BC original, the core section of each quarterly issue of The Growler Ontario will feature brewery listings in which the breweries are “mapped and profiled, letting you know what kind of beers are available, what amenities each brewery offers, where their beers are available.” The first issue will focus on the Golden Horseshoe region, before expanding to cover every brewery in Ontario within the first year of publication.
Editor David Ort notes in a blog post that the first issue will also include other editorial content including…
- Discussion with brewers Mike Lackey (Great Lakes) and Iain McOustra (Amsterdam) about what inspires them.
- A feature by Crystal Luxmore on how craft brewery employees strike a balance between work and family.
- A recipe for Scotch eggs by chef Jesse Vallins.
…and more to be announced.
The Growler Ontario Volume 1 Issue 1 will be available at brewery taprooms throughout the province later this week for $2 per copy, a 60% discount from the $5 newsstand price. Subscription and online ordered copies will be shipping this week as well, and newsstand distribution will follow next week.
