TORONTO, ON – A brewing company that has been producing its beer under contact at Cool Brewery has announced that it is pulling out of the partnership over Cool’s decision to take part in the Ontario government’s “buck-a-beer” promotion.
Silly Sir Brewing has been brewing its flagship Easy Tiger Lemongrass Ale at the Cool facility since earlier this year, but will be moving to a new location for future production.
As explained by Silly Sir co-founder Matt Cowan in a press release:
This decision is based on a philosophical misalignment with Cool. Despite their experience and professionalism, we cannot in good conscience continue brewing with a company that plans to embrace brewing beer that is antithetical to the craft movement. Their recent announcement is disappointing and serves to push the industry in what we perceive to be the wrong direction.
The statement also thanks Cool for its “commitment to Easy Tiger’s recipe specifications and quality,” and notes that “we are fortunate to have worked with their wonderfully collaborative team as we navigate the startup phase of our business.”
Cans of Easy Tiger brewed at Silly Sir’s new partner brewery – which has not been announced – will be available at LCBO locations throughout Ontario in coming weeks.
