HALIFAX, NS – 2 Crows Brewing has announced details of a new limited edition beer set for release this weekend.
Five Petals is a barrel aged sour with lemon and elderflower that is described as follows:
Brewed with Pilsner malt, spelt, and wheat (raw & malted), with zero hop additions. This beer was fermented in oak with a blend of different house lacto, brett, and sacch cultures and allowed to condition in barrels that had once held Sauvignon Blanc (although this is the 3rd beer through these barrels, so the wine character is minimal now). After about 4 months, the beer was transferred to stainless and conditioned with fresh lemon zest and juice, and finally dry-hopped with elderflower before bottling (with help from my dad!) and bottle conditioning. Very bright, fun, lively, and fresh. Strong lemon presence, firm minerality, with a delicate touch of elderflower’s floral/lychee presence.
Five Petals will be released tomorrow (May 11th) at 12:00 noon, and will be available at 2 Crows while supplies last.
