BERWICK, NS – A small brewery set up by a husband and wife team is now open in Berwick, a small town in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.
Smokehouse Nano Brewery was founded by Mike and Shelley Peters, and is located in a former meat shop and smokehouse on the property where the couple lives.
Mike and his brothers, Gerald and Tim, are veteran award-winning homebrewers, and that experience is being applied to the small batch beers he is producing on a custom-made 1-barrel brewhouse with three 1-barrel fermenters.
Beers available or in the work include Beerwick Brown Ale (5.2% abv), Big Electric Blonde (4.8% abv), Erdbeere Pilsner (4.9% abv), Litehouse Ale (3.8% abv), Roxy Red Ale (4.9% abv), and Famous Amos IPA.
Smokehouse Nano Brewery is not currently open to the public, although an on-site store is being planned for the future. In the meantime, Smokehouse beers are available on tap at Union Street Cafe in Berwick, with more locations coming soon.
