ST. JOHN’S, NL – YellowBelly Brewery has announced the release of this year’s edition of its annual holiday seasonal beer.
Mummer’s Brew 2019 (7.3% abv) is described as follows by brewmaster Liam Mckenna:
This years Mummers Brew is a big Mocha Porter. Its strength is belied by the round, soft, sweet palate of malt, oats, wheat and flaked barley. Coloured with Midnight Wheat, BlackPrinz and Roasted Barley, the roast character of the malt is subdued sufficiently to allow the deep, beautiful, nutty, malty Brazilian coffee beans roasted by the gifted folk at Darkstar Coffee to rise and meet the cacao in precisely the harmony I was seeking. Hopped with Sasquatch and East Kent Goldings, there is a gentle, bitter, earthy rise in the finish accompanied by what I perceive as a pleasing licorice note.
YellowBelly Mummer’s Brew 2019 will be launched today (December 2nd) at the YellowBelly brewpub and takeaway locations, and bottles will be available at select NLC locations later this week.
