GUELPH, ON – Fixed Gear Brewing has announced the upcoming opening of the Fixed Gear Canteen, a new restaurant and taproom with a menu focused on wood-fired stone oven pizzas.
Located in the former Guelph location of Abe Erb Brewing, which closed at the start of the COVID-19 lockdown and never reopened – a precursor of sorts to the rest of the chain permanently shutting down earlier this week – the new spot will have both socially distanced indoor and heated outdoor seating as well as take-out options.
“It’s hard to ignore the challenges of opening a new location during a pandemic,” said Fixed Gear founder and president Mike Oosterveld in a statement. “Thankfully we’ve received an enormous amount of local support, which has bolstered our confidence and driven us to create a casual dining experience that is authentic to our brand and the Guelph community.”
This will mark the third location for Fixed Gear, joining the original brewery at 20 Alma St. S., and the former StoneHammer Brewing facility at 355 Elmira Rd. N. that it took over and reopened last year.
The Fixed Gear Canteen will be opening on Friday October 23rd in The Junction complex at 5 Edinburgh Road South in Guelph.
