VICTORIA, BC – National beer bar chain CRAFT Beer Market has announced that it has purchased Victoria’s Canoe Brewpub from hospitality company The Truffles Group, and will take over operations effective March 1st.
“This is wonderful news for our guests, team and beer lovers in Victoria,” said Don Calveley, founder of Truffles Group, in a statement. “CRAFT Beer Market brings the same commitment to community involvement, excellent service and outstanding food and beverage that have been the hallmark of Canoe Brewpub for the past 18 years.”
“We could not be more excited,” added PJ L’Heureux, founder and president of CRAFT. “Canoe will be our first brewing facility and the first member of our family in Victoria.”
L’Heureux also noted that while CRAFT is “committed to significant renovations of the property,” the company plans to “keep Canoe as Canoe for the time being,” with production of the Canoe beer brands set to continue.
While CRAFT will be taking over the Canoe Brewpub business, Calveley will retain ownership of the property, and will be leasing the restaurant, brewpub and patio space to CRAFT/Canoe.
