KINGSTON, ON – Spearhead Brewing has announced the release of a new collaborative beer with activist and drag performer Rowena Whey in support of the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD).
Queen of Wheat (5% abv) is described as follows:
Queen of Wheat is a classic Belgian-style white beer brewed with hints of succulent peach and generous amounts of soft Canadian wheat to create a smooth mouthfeel. The noble hops and wheat yeast give a zesty, citrusy fruitiness with floral and spicy aromatics. One sip will have beer lovers saying “Yas, Queen!”
“The new beer was created in celebration of diversity, inclusion and love,” said Josh Hayter, president of Spearhead Brewing, in a statement. “We admire the work that Rowena Whey and the CCGSD are doing for the LGBT+ community, and we’re honoured to play a small role in supporting their important education efforts in the way we do best – beer!”
“We’re really excited for this Queen of Wheat partnership with Spearhead Brewery,” added Debbie Owusu-Akyeeah, executive director of CCGSD. “The support of local businesses, and their dedication to celebrating diversity, means a lot to us. Our work delivering workshops on inclusion to youth, students and educators has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 global pandemic. With this partnership, we will be able to adapt our work digitally, continue to reach the communities we serve, and ensure 2SLGBTQ+ feel affirmed in their learning.”
Queen of Wheat is available now at the Spearhead retail store and online shop. Partial proceeds will be donated to CCGSD to support its important work.
