SHERWOOD PARK, AB – Alberta’s newest craft brewery is opening today (June 4th) in Sherwood Park, a community just east of Edmonton in Strathcona County.
70 Acre Brew Co. has been founded by Michelle Dixon and Lindsay Pennock, and takes its name from a field on Pennock’s family farm in central Alberta.
Brewmaster Brandon Owens has prepared six beers in time for this weekend’s opening, including Bossman Lager (4.7% abv), Rose-EH All Day Fruited Dry Lager (4.9% abv), Private Peach Berliner Weisse (3.9% abv), Hendaze’d & Confused Hazy Pale Ale (5.2% abv), and two yet-to-be-named beers, an India Pale Ale (6.1% abv) and a Rye Saison (5.6% abv).
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, service will be limited to takeaway sales for now, including cans and growlers of beer, and Neapolitan-style pizzas from the brewpub kitchen. The 100-seat taproom is expected to open as restrictions are lifted through the summer.
70 Acre Brew Co. is located at 6000 Buckingham Drive in Sherwood Park, and will be open today and tomorrow (Saturday June 5th) from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with ongoing business hours to be confirmed. For more details, see the brewery’s website and Facebook page.
