CALGARY, AB – The Alberta Small Brewers Association (ASBA) has officially launched Alberta Beer Week – running from Friday October 15th to Saturday October 23rd, 2021 – with the release of this year’s version of the annual Unity Brew collaboration beer.
Unity Brew 2021 Session IPA (4.8% abv) was brewed at Grizzly Paw Brewing in Canmore, and has the following tasting notes:
Pale complexion, sweet, prominent, fruity hop aroma, (pineapple, passionfruit). Flavour is a bit green at the minute from the dry hop, but the beer presents notes of coconut and pine with some herbaceousness and unripe nectarine. Medium mouthfeel with pleasing bitterness.
“Unity Brew brings together craft breweries, raw materials producers, graphic designers, suppliers and more to celebrate the farm to glass story of Alberta beer and its community,” says Blair Berdusco, Executive Director of the ASBA, in a statement. “Craft beer in Alberta supports jobs and sectors beyond the staff at the taproom, and I’m not sure how many consumers understand that impact as well as we would like.”
Key events during Alberta Beer Week include two major festivals – Calgary International Beerfest (October 15th-16th) and Edmonton Craft Beer Festival (October 22nd-23rd) – and the Alberta Beer Awards, taking place at Bo’s Bar and Stage in Red Deer on October 20th.
Other events including tap takeovers, beer releases, discounts and more will be happening at breweries and bars throughout the province.
