WINNIPEG, MB – Good Neighbour Brewing has announced the opening of a taproom as part of a new collaborative project in Winnipeg’s West Broadway neighbourhood.
One Sixteen is a joint venture between Good Neighbour, The Beer Can, and Two Hands Catering, with a mission to be “a gathering space for those who love great beer and food, crafted with the highest quality ingredients, and created by humans who take great pride in what they do.”
As reported in a Winnipeg Free Press profile, Good Neighbour owners Amber Sarraillon and Morgan Wielgosz have been joined by sommelier Rob Stansel to oversee the beverage program. In addition to line-up of Good Neighbour beers – including one line set up for nitro pours, and Lukr side-pull tap for Czech-style lagers – the bar also features a rotating guest tap, a cider option, and an alcohol-free sparkling hop water, plus wines and cocktails.
The taproom food menu from Two Hands chefs Michael Robins and Keegan Misanchuk is inspired by British pub food, with the Free Press article noting such items as “sausage rolls, fried oysters, crispy layered potato cakes, smoked goldeye dip and soda bread made with Good Neighbour beer.”
The adjacent Two Hands dining room set to open later in the month will feature a different menu with a seasonal focus and dishes designed to pair with the primarily organic and bio-dynamic wines selected by Stansel.
Good Neighbour’s beer is currently being brewed under contract at Oxus Brewing, but Sarraillon and Wielgosz are in the process of securing their own location in the same neighbourhood as One Sixteen, with hopes to be brewing there by the summer.
One Sixteen is located at 116 Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg, and the Good Neighbour taproom is open from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Monday to Thursday, 12:00 noon to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM on Sunday.
