SHERBOOKE, QC – Brewery trade organization Beer Canada has announced the creation of a scholarship program for students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Brewing Science program at Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Québec.
The $1000 bursary will be awarded annually to a student who will be “chosen by the Department based on leadership qualities and academic merit.”
“On behalf of Canada’s leading brewers, Beer Canada is pleased to partner with Bishop’s to help develop the next generation of Canadian brewers,” said CJ Hélie, President of Beer Canada, in a statement. “We hope the “Beer Canada Award” will help a deserving student to complete the program and join Canada’s exciting
beer sector.”
“Our program is designed to meet the growing need for well-trained, scientifically educated brewers and brewing analysts,” added Dr Alexandre Drouin, Chair of the Chemistry and Brewing Science Department at Bishop’s. “Our students are passionate about beer and it is wonderful to have their efforts recognized by our national industry association”.
This is the fourth student brewing award supported by Beer Canada with bursaries, joining previously established awards at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, British Columbia; Olds College in Olds, Alberta; and Niagara College in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
