ST. JOHN’S, NL – Landwash Brewery and Gahan House Harbourview – the St. John’s location of the PEI-born Gahan House brewpub chain – have announced the release of a new collaborative beer.
The Bridge and Ferry ESB (5.8% abv):
Brewed with a base of Simpsons Maris Otter malt and then a bunch of very special IREKS malts to add a full body, caramel sweetness, and loads of depth of flavour. We then used UK Admiral and Godiva hops (the latter being a newer UK Hop!) to add some bitterness and a note of blueberries. This is a malt forward, round, lovely beer.
For the name and label we wanted to riff on traditional “paired names” that are common among English Pubs. To connect this island to island collaboration we took the two ways our islands are linked to the mainland: The Bridge for PEI and the Ferry for Newfoundland and Labrador. It’s our collaboration little imaginary island pub!
The Bridge and Ferry is available now at the Landwash taproom and retail store, and select beer retailers in Newfoundland. It will also be going on tap today (June 24th) at Gahan House Harbourview.
