TORONTO, ON – Canada’s 100 Best has announced its lists of the country’s top 100 restaurants and 50 bars for 2023, and two breweries have made the grade for inclusion on the latter ranking.
Toronto’s Godspeed Brewery appears at the 22nd spot, with praise for brewmaster Luc Lafontaine and his “rigorously authentic Czech lagers”; and the 48th pick is Montreal’s Brasserie Isle de Garde, where brewer Olivier Dupras is “renowned for his open-ferment weissbier, a style rarely found outside Germany.”
While the rest of 50 Best Bars list primarily includes establishments specializing in cocktails, several beer-focused bars also received nods, including Calgary’s Ship & Anchor Pub (#27) and Rain Dog Bar (#47); Toronto’s Bar Volo (#30); Halifax’s Stillwell Beer Bar (#38) and The Narrows Public House (#49); and Saskatoon’s Amigos Cantina (#44).
Over on the 100 Best Restaurants list, Edmonton’s Biera – the restaurant side of Blind Enthusiasm Brewing – is included at #84.
