NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ON – Link Up, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to create opportunities for BIPOC individuals in the brewing industry, has announced the establishment of a new scholarship in partnership with the Niagara College Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program.
The Link Up Beer BIPOC Scholarship will award $5000 to a first-year student in program who identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Colour. Funds for the scholarship come from the tri-annual series of collaborative beers that Link Up releases with breweries in Ontario and Quebec, as well as community tap handles in bars and other donations.
“It has always been the vision of the Link Up organization to place BIPOC individuals on a track to key roles within breweries, whether that be in brewing, leadership or ownership,” says Link Up co-founder Tiffany Davey in a statement. “This scholarship truly feels like the first milestone to fulfilling that vision, and we can’t wait to follow the journey of the recipient.”
Applications are open until October 9th, 2023, and can be found and submitted by searching for “Link Up” on the Niagara College Scholarships and Bursaries for Domestic Students webpage.
