SHEET HARBOUR, NS – More than seven years after opening for business, Sober Island Brewing founder Rebecca Atkinson has sold the brewery to new owners Steve and Nancy Giles.
Atkinson announced the sale and transition in a post on social media, where she wrote the following:
Sober Island Brewing Company has become an anchor on the Eastern Shore, a community gathering place, and a brand that many have come to learn about and love. The time has come for someone new to bring forward more and new ideas and growth! Tim MacLeod, Head Brewer, will remain in his position and keep bringing you the quality and consistent beer that you enjoy in your glass. Steve and Nancy recognize the impact the company has had in the community and will continue with all the great live music events, trivia, etc.
Atkinson also noted that while she no longer holds a stake in the brewery, she “can still be found in the area and likely at the taproom for a pint.”
