TORONTO, ON – True History Brewing has announced two new beers that will be debuting this weekend as part of the brewery’s Oktoberfest celebrations.
Sticks Oktoberfest Märzen (5% abv):
Märzen, meaning March in German and named that way because it was brewed in March to be served at Oktoberfest, was traditionally a more malt forward beer. With Sticks we aimed to find a balance between the traditional, malt-forward Märzen and the more modern Festbier. We used exclusively Isaria 1924 – a German heirloom malt and the oldest certified German brewing barely variety – and took it through an intensive double decoction mash, and conditioned this lager at subzero temperatures for 4.5 months.
Stones Festbier (5.6% abv):
Stones is our version of the modern Festbiers you’ll find served in the tents in Munich during Oktoberfest. Very similar to a Helles but with a touch more ABV, we gave it a subtle boost in bitterness to elevate the drinkability on an already verrrrrry drinkable beer. A traditional decoction mash and an extended 7 week conditioning period bring character and roundness. Clean and easy, baby.
Sticks and Stones will both be released tomorrow (September 30th) at True History, where they will be served on tap in 0.5L mugs and 1L steins, and will also be available in cans in the brewery retail shop.
