TORONTO, ON – Henderson Brewing has announced the latest release in its monthly Ides Series of small batch beers.
Ides 90: Cygnus X-1 Black Lager (5% abv):
This new release celebrates the achievements of a young astronomy student from U of T back in 1971 named Charles Thomas Bolton. Bolton was particularly interested in a concentration of X-rays coming from the constellation Cygnus, and he felt pretty sure that he could prove it was a neutron star. But there was a more significant truth lying in the cluster of outer space X-rays, a star orbiting at more then 200 times the speed of sound: Cygnus X-1, the first discovered black hole.
This black lager is very smooth and drinkable, the dark malt provides intense rich flavour while the hops are subtle on the finish to showcase the overall malt character.
Cygnus X-1 is available now at the Henderson taproom, retail store, and online shop. The official launch will take place at the brewery taproom today (October 20th) at 6:00 PM, with a pop-up planetarium from the Dunlap Institute, and homemade sausages by Link Haus.
